MEDDIN STUDIOS

Jon Foster, Meddin StudiosJon Foster (pictured left) and Nick Gant saw a void in the infrastructure of Savannah and the Creative Coast a little over a year ago. The state of Georgia had passed an aggressive tax credit program targeted at the film industry, however, our coastal paradise lacked the advanced media technology facilities neighbors to the north and south of us had to attract the ‘industry’.

Jon & Nick found a home for their brainchild on Louisville Road in the most unlikely of places – an old meatpacking plant. Taking a cue from the building’s founding family, they named the facility Meddin Studios. “We saw enormous potential in Nick and Jon” says Eric Howell, commercial loan officer at Colony Bank, “they have the only digital production facility in the U.S. Combine that with their experience/contacts/relationship with SCAD. You just know the sky’s the limit with the company.”

Meddin Studios utilized both the SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs for the many different needs of starting this ambitious venture – from real estate to equipment to renovation and operating cash.

In 12 short months, you may have seen the name ‘Meddin’ around Savannah with a Presidential visit, host to Geekend, Savannah Film Festival, Ruby from the STYLE network, Paula Deen’s “Real Women of Philadelphia Cook-Off” and Jamie Deen’s new show “The Family Table”. Not to mention several independent films and the promise of several feature films to come…
